Man charged following Edinburg crash that left one dead

The man responsible for the death of an active duty service member has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

25-year-old Edward Leo Magallan went before a judge today in Edinburg. He is facing a second-degree felony charge for the death of 19-year-old Cassandra Julianne Perez.

According to authorities, on Friday, Feb. 15, just before 1 a.m, Perez was on 24th Avenue, standing outside her stalled vehicle when a Mustang, driven by Magallan, struck Perez and her vehicle.

Magallan’s bond was set at $150,000. As a condition of his bond, he is required to carry a portable hand device breathalyzer and be alcohol free at all times.
