Man barricades himself inside home, threatens officer

RIO GRANDE CITY, Texas – On Friday May 8 around 8:30 a.m., police officers were called to a home in the 200 block of Roosevelt St. in reference to a burglary.

The police department’s press release said that Christphor Olivarez had broken down the back door to his family’s residence in an attempt to commit an assault. Officers made contact with Olivarez and attempted to detain him. He barricaded himself inside the residence.

When officers attempted to take him into custody, Olivarez resisted. After he was in police custody, he threatened to kill one of the officers involved.

Olivarez has been charged with burglary of habitation with intent to commit an assault, resisting arrest, and terroristic threat against a police officer, said the release.
