The city of Pharr welcomes the Gonzalez family to their new home.
The Pharr Family Foundation and Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. are partnering to give low-income families the opportunity to be home owners. Raquel Gonzalez, the first homeowner to benefit from the program, says how the process went.
“It was very fast, super fast. I think the whole process only took six months.”
The project consists of 18 houses. Six of them currently being built and 12 waiting for a new owner.
Eleazar Guajardo, Pharr City Commissioner said, “The city is working for them and is trying to provide services that we think are important for them. Improving the quality life of all Pharr people. All levels of income, in all areas of our city. I hope that’s the message that we are bringing, that the city is working for its residents.”
The Pharr Family Foundation Program will continue to grant $15,000 towards each of its 18 new lots. To qualify families must be low-income and prove they have two years employed with the same company.
