Los Fresnos CISD awarded $250,000 to expand welding program

LOS FRESNOS, Texas – A Texas Workforce Commission commissioner presented Los Fresnos CISD with a Jobs and Education for Texas Grant, to help improve their welding program.

The funds will be used for new equipment to aid in filling much needed high demand occupations. 

“Los Fresnos is one of many school districts in the region preparing. We’re preparing students for the workforce and their post-secondary experiences.” Said Dr. Gonzalo Salazar, superintendent at Los Fresnos CISD. 

With the grant, Los Fresnos ISD will be able to expand its welding program to include 9th and 10th graders.
