HARLINGEN, Texas — Panchito’s Restaurant in Harlingen is stepping up to the plate, helping the elderly community and those with medical conditions get a meal on their table without having to leave their homes or reach into their pockets.
The restaurant is delivering food to the elderly’s front doors daily, as many don’t have anyone to care for them and aren’t able to leave their homes to pick up food for themselves.
“They’re the forefront of our business we’ve been here for 18 years and they are the ones consistently coming, and right now a lot of them are not coming out. A lot of them don’t have families that are close by, ” said Panchito’s owner Gigi Diaz.
The restaurant has also cut back on their prices to what they used to be back in 2001 to help those who are struggling financially due to the pandemic.
“We’re keeping all of our lunch specials at $4.99 which was the base price when we opened in 2001. That was our starting point,” said Diaz.
If you know of an elderly neighbor or family member who is in need of a meal you can send a message through Facebook to Panchito’s Harlingen or you may also give them a call at 956-428-8083.
