A local district attorney pushing to stop the cycle of domestic violence.
It’s called ‘Stop the Cover Up’.
For the month of October, each week, Cameron County District Attorney Luis Saenz is visiting local colleges to provide resources and information to students about the signs of abuse.
On Tuesday, Saenz met with students at Texas Southmost College.
“It’s a kind of crime that strikes at the very heart of the family unit,” said Saenz. “They are very special cases, like all the other cases, but they’re very unique because we’re usually talking about family members testifying against one another. Children caught in the middle.”
The Cameron County District Attorney’s Office receives 1,500 family violence cases a year.
Their next stop will be Thursday at Texas State Technical College.
