MCALLEN, Texas – Aiming to encourage citizens to vote, U.S. Congressman Vicente Gonzalez cast his ballot at the Lark Community Center in McAllen. Last night’s early voting numbers showed a large number of participants in small areas across the Rio Grande Valley. That is something U.S. Representative Gonzalez applauds. He also wants to encourage those who don’t vote, to do so.
“You can’t complain if you don’t vote. When you don’t vote and don’t participate it hurts our community. It hurts our country, so everyone needs to come out and do their civic duty and participate. Vote for whoever you want, whoever you like most, whoever you feel most comfortable, whoever you think is going to best represent you. But if you don’t participate you don’t have a choice on who represents you.”
Early voting for the Texas Primary elections ends Feb. 28. Election day is March 3.
