Local church raises money for healthcare workers

Local News

SAN BENITO, Texas – A church in San Benito is raising money to help feed healthcare workers. It’s called the “RGV Thank You Fund”.

Members of the Pentecostal church say all the money raised will go towards buying coffee and BBQ sandwich plates for healthcare professionals at Valley Baptist Health System, Harlingen Medical Center and Veranda Rehabilitation Center.

The food is even being bought from locally owned businesses.

“There are members of our church working as nurses on the front line of the battle against the coronavirus, so this is personal for us,” said Pastor J.C. Milligan. “There is no adequate way to say thank you, but we wanted to create a way for the community to come together and show how much we appreciate what these doctors and nurses are doing every day.”
