Due to last night’s rains, the city of Brownsville closed off its landfill to the public. This means that individuals could not use ramps to dump off trash in a standard vehicle and not allowed to drive through muddy terrain. However, the city assures News Center 23 that services will not be interrupted and operations will remain as usual.
“As you know we had some recent rains so closing the landfill is a precautionary measure it’s closed to the public in order for the public to access the landfill don’t have to go through certain ramps that may become slippery or they may run the risk of being stuck so this is simply a precaution measure it will reopen once the rains have subsided”
The landfill will open again until further notice. Landfill supervisors tell us that very few things will stop their regular service including hurricane like conditions.
