UPDATE: La Feria Police searching for person of interest causing school district to lockdown five campuses

LA FERIA, Texas – At around 9:45 a.m. the La Feria Police received a call of a suspicious male subject wearing body armor walking along the canal bank south of Dodd Lane.

La Feria Police along with four other agencies immediately began searching the area for the subject. La Feria Police Department contacted La Feria ISD and Our Lady of the Lake University and placed the schools on lockdown as a precautionary measure.

At this time La Feria Police Department has suspended the search and is following up on other leads.

The La Feria Police Department will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.

La Feria Police Department would like to thank Texas Department of Public Safety, US Border Patrol, Cameron County Sheriff’s Department and Cameron County Constable Pct. 5 for their assistance in the search.
