HARLINGEN, Texas — Federal authorities have a man in custody after he made a bomb threat to the Veteran’s Administration (VA) Hospital in Harlingen.
La Feria resident Dennis Deane Dailey, 73, is charged with making the threat.
According to officials, Dailey called the VA suicide prevention hotline expressing he had suicidal thoughts. He then expressed anger and a plan to shoot employees at the VA hospital in Harlingen.
Dailey also stated his intention to kill people between the ages of 18 and 30 because “they are spreading COVID-19.”
Dailey also claimed to have “many guns and bombs” and would blow up the VA and kill whoever needed to be killed.
The FBI arrested Dailey on July 22 for this incident.
Dailey will appear for his hearing on August 11.
If convicted, Dailey faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a possible fine of up to $250,000.
