La Feria ISD to provide savings account for students

A local school district is teaching the value of being frugal.

La Feria ISD is partnering with Lone Star Bank to offer Cowboy Savings Banks to their kinder and first graders.

This will be give the students a chance to start their college savings account.

The district says they plan to start 400 accounts free of charge.

The events will be held on the following dates to let families know about the partnership, literacy lessons and to push savings:

  • October 21 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Oct 22 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Oct 28 at 5:30 p.m.
