SAN ANTONIO – Our Chief Meteorologist Robert Bettes has been out this week as he gives the gift of life to his first born son, Mason.
Local 23 caught up with Robert and his son as they made their way to Methodist Specialty and Transplant hospital in San Antonio Wednesday morning.
Robert donated his kidney to 20-year-old Mason today after learning his one kidney was no longer functioning properly.
KVEO Anchor, Brenda Medina has been keeping up with him throughout the day and thankfully he tells us all went well.
“We have been overwhelmed by our viewers who have sent in their support for my son and the surgery and I want to sincerely thank you,” said Robert. “I feel great and knowing that my son Mason, his new kidney has produced 2 liters of urine all on its own, he can throw away the boxes. He doesn’t have to do dialysis. Thank you God.”
Robert adds Mason’s new kidney is already functioning perfectly.
Both Robert and Mason will be recovering and resting for the next couple of weeks. Our continued prayers are with the Bettes family.
