Kite Fest Continues Despite Cold Start

Local News

There may have been inclement weather in South Padre Island, but kite enthusiasts say it’s a great day to fly a kite.

Cloudy skies, strong winds and cold temperatures did not stop ‘kiters’ heading out to the 15th Annual Kite Festival in South Padre Island.

Event Organizers say they plan to carry on with the festivities both today and tomorrow February 3rd from 10 AM to 4:00 PM. The event may be cancelled only if there is a chance of lighting.

Kite Fest takes place at the City’s Convention Center, however cool temperatures had many enjoying the show from a different venue, watching from afar while staying warm in their vehicles.
