Keep McAllen Beautiful Celebrates Arbor Day

Local News

With a week until the Arbor Day celebration begins, the McAllen is still encouraging RGV residents to register. This will be the sixth year that ‘Keep McAllen Beautiful’ hosts the event at Municipal Park. This year’s celebration, participants will be able to run a 5k or 10k race, a 25-mile bike tour, or do a family fun walk.

Attendees will receive a native plant to take home, and the opportunity to plant some trees at the park.

Program Coordinator Chris Lash says, “There’s never enough trees. We need a lot greener spaces here. We need more residents to plant more trees in their homes, but again, it’s important that they know where to plant a tree, how to properly plant the tree, and how to take care of it. This is a great opportunity to come learn that at the park.”

The Arbor Day celebration will be March 4. If you would like to register for the races or bike tour, you can do so at www.keepmcallenbeautiful.org
