Keep Alton Beautiful welcomes RGV cities to recycle

ALTON – The city of Alton is encouraging Rio Grande Valley cities to recycle their cardboard, mixed paper and aluminum cans.

The recycling center is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Some items not permitted are pizza boxes, personal mail and butcher paper.

Recycling for only the residents of Alton is also available. A current water bill is required, and there is a limit of four tires per household once a month.

The city will charge $3 for car tires and $4 for semi-truck tires.

No Off The Road (OTR) tires (tractor) or tires on rims will be accepted.

The Keep Alton Beautiful project requires an application to be filled out and returned to 416 South Alton Boulevard, Alton, TX 78573 or 401 West Dawes, Alton, TX 78573.
