Local News

A youth is back in custody at the Starr County Juvenile Detention Center after momentarily escaping. A spokesman with the sheriff’s office says the juvenile was handcuffed after testing positive for drugs. The young person was being escorted when he or she darted from the second floor of the courthouse and made it out through the front doors. An off-duty deputy saw the juvenile and was able to get a hold of the person, who is now being charged with escape.
