MCALLEN, Texas – With just three weeks left in the It’s Time Texas Community Challenge, several valley cities are leading the way. The community challenge is an 8-week competition encouraging communities, schools, businesses, organizations and even mayors to get moving.
With the goal of improving the health of the communities, here are the latest top 5 state wide rankings: McAllen and Harlingen are leading the large and mid-size groups with Brownsville and Pharr still in contention. While Los Fresnos, San Juan and Alamo is second, third, and fourth in the small group.

We want to show the rest of the state of Texas how healthy we are down here in the Rio Grande Valley and McAllen.”
On Saturday, Feb. 15, the McAllen Mayor’s Wellness Council is inviting the community to walk with the mayor as part of the It’s Time Texas Community Challenge. The event is free, registration begins at Bicentennial and Harvey at 8:30 a.m. with the walk starting at 9:00 a.m.
