Spring Break is one of the busiest times of year for the Island, and city leaders are working to make it even bigger.
South Padre is receiving an additional $100,000 in funding to help increase the Island’s appeal.
CBS 4 spoke with their marketing team to determine where the money is coming from.
“These funds come from our bed tax – our hot tax which is our hotel/motel tax. So it is not actually tax payer dollars,” said Michael Flores, SPI director of marketing research and analytics. “These are funds that are specifically utilized for marketing, convention centers, and tourism, so they’re for that very specific purpose.”
The funds will allow the city to advertise and attract more people to the Island throughout the month of March.
