iPhone app results in the arrest of a teen accused of theft

Harlingen police arrested a teen, accused of theft, after the victim used an app to locate her stolen cell phone.

On July 12th, a woman reported to police that her iPhone 6, valued at $200 dollars, had been stolen from a condo on South Padre Island.

The victim used a phone app which indicated the phone was in the Harlingen area. Through the course of the investigation detectives were able to identify a possible suspect as Alex Alejandro Ontiveros, 17, who was located and arrested on Tuesday, August 11th.

Ontiveros was charged with theft and handed a bond totaling $1,500 dollars.
