Incarnate Word Academy Kicks Off Charro Days

Local News

Incarnate Word Academy unveiled its 2018 A Little Bit of Mexico poster, for the 65th year in a row.

The unveiling kicked off Charro Days for this year in Brownsville, in which students from Pre-K through 8th grade as well as alumni and other guest dancers perform a variety of Mexican folkloric dances.

“I think that the kids sometimes, they seem to be hesitant to want to learn but after a while they start to accept and master it very well,” said Michael Caramillo Incarnate Word Academy Principal

“At the same time when they graduate and leave here from Incarnate Word Academy, they have a tendency of thinking wow its Charro Days, I miss A Little Bit of Mexico,” he said.

“They’re kind of are connected with the school not just being an alumni but by saying I’ve been there I’ve done that,” he said.

The Little Bit of Mexico dance performance will kick off Sunday February 18th at the Texas Southmost College Arts Center in Brownsville, at 7:30 PM.

Tickets are $20, this year’s theme is Nuevo Leon.
