An IDEA College Prep Alamo student is now a Lilly Scholar after winning a prestigious scholarship from Wabash College, IDEA Public Schools announced in a release.

According to the release, senior Jesus Monrroy-Mazcorro is one of only 15 finalists selected for the award out of thousands of applicants.

As a selected finalist, Jesus traveled to Wabash College and was interviewed by professors and a selection board.

Jesus is the first IDEA Alamo and IDEA Public Schools scholar to be named a Lilly Scholar from Wabash College, said the release.

He was only one of three recipients of this award.

According to the release, the Lilly Scholar Award is designed to recognize outstanding young men who have made significant contributions to their school and community and demonstrate high potential and future promise to do the same as a Wabash student.

The selection committee is confident that Jesus will model for others the ideals of the scholarship and Wabash.

The Lilly Award covers the full cost of tuition, required fees, and on-campus room and board for his four years at Wabash College, said the release.
