HARLINGEN – The Humane Society of Harlingen announces the first “Battle of the Beasts” adoption competition. The event begins at 1 p.m., and goes through Friday, June 5. The society will be tracking adoptions/fosters between cats and dogs until Friday in order to crown this summer’s Battle of the Beasts Champion.

All updates will be posted their Facebook page.

To encourage prospective adoptions, the Humane Society of Harlingen will be hosting a Puppy Power Hour every day from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. where all puppy adoption fees will be waived. Adult dogs (over 6 months), adult cats, and kittens will have all adoption fees waived throughout the competition.

All adopted animals are up to date on vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, and are spayed/neutered or with an appointment for spay/neuter.

Although adoption fees are waived, donations are greatly appreciated to cover the cost of care for shelter pets and to continue life saving efforts.

If you cannot adopt or foster but still want to help, you can sponsor one of the furry competitors. Sponsorships begin at $75 and help to cover the costs of care of shelter pets, said the shelter’s release.
