HARLINGEN, Texas – The Harlingen Humane Society is looking for volunteers to help care for animals.
The shelter is aiming to reach a ‘No Kill’ status and help all animals that come into the shelter. They are also looking for animal lovers who are interested in learning about the services the shelter provides and how you can be part of a life changing experience for dogs and cats.
Officials say there are nearly 100 animals currently in the shelter with less than 20 volunteers trying to help them all.
Brianda Montoya, animal care lead, “It’s basically to get the animals outside of their normal shelter routine and give them something different every single day and would help them be more adoptable. That’s what you do as a volunteer, you help out with normal tasks every day and you also enrich the lives of the animals here at the shelter.”
The shelter will also be offering an additional volunteer information session on March 14 at 2:00 p.m.
