The Brownsville Fire Department is currently working on putting out a house fire that began a little before noon on Tuesday at 14 Barcelona Street at the Brownsville Country Club.

According to Fire Chief Carlos Elizondo, it the fire began in the attic and it is now fully engulfed.

At this time, no residents are reported to have been inside the residence. However, two Brownsville firefighters were injured on scene when part of the roof collapsed. Chief Elizondo says both men are fine and were treated for minor injuries on scene with no need for transport to the hospital.

Elizondo says enough power from the Brownsville Fire Dept is on scene and they will continue to work to put out the fire as quickly as possible and begin the investigation as to what caused it.
