WESLACO, Texas — With the holiday weekend here, hotels like the Super 8 in Weslaco is are seeing guests for the first time in two months.
Karan Singh, owner of the establishment says he’s making his motel is completely safe.
“The average in April was like seven to eight rooms a night. Now we’re selling about 20 a night it’s quite a bit of an increase,” Singh explained as a guest pulled up to the motel’s driveway.
According to the American Hotel & Lodging Association they have enhanced cleaning practices with guidelines hotels need to follow in order to stay safe.
“Sanitizing all the door handles that come into the lobby, the restroom door handles, the railings for the stairs. The railings to get inside the pool,” he explained as an employee disinfected highly touched surfaces in the lobby area.
Among the new measures also include social distancing by allowing only one family in the pool at a time and housekeeping not allowed to enter the room at all during your stay.
“We’re sanitizing everything we overlooked in the past which means the boutons to hold the curtain, the door handle from the outside to the interior of the room,” he added.
These efforts are to provide guests a nice and safe stay.
