Doctors Hospital at Renaissance becomes the first hospital in the Valley to receive the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval as a Comprehensive Stroke Center.
According to physicians this certification demonstrates highly specialized stroke care. To earn this recognition, hospitals must demonstrate a 24-7 availability of neurology specialists.
Patrick Noonan, Medical Director, “As a Comprehensive Stroke Center we are certified by the Joint Commission as having the highest level of care. We have 24/7 interventional neuro-radiology service, that’s something I do. We have 24/7 neurologists, we have 24/7 neuro surgery services, we also have advanced rehabilitation services. We have the totality of care for the stroke patient.”
There are currently less than 30 hospitals across the state designated as Comprehensive Stroke Centers. DHR is the only hospital south of San Antonio receiving this recognition.
