A powerful act of forgiveness from the victim of a hit-and-run accident to the man responsible for it.

17-year-old Christian Carrillo was delivering a victim impact statement during the sentencing of Eric Acevedo. Acevedo was found guilty of striking Carrillo with his car three years ago. After admitting that he first hated Acevedo, Carrillo said he could not hate somebody for years and years. He then got up from the stand, walked toward Acevedo and hugged him.

Carrillo then told Acevedo that he forgives him, and hopes his life gets better. Acevedo was sentenced to five years in prison and must pay a $10,000 fine. Carrillo was in a coma for weeks after the hit and run.
