18-year-old Justice Free and Jose Villarreal and a third were arrested in connection to the July burglary of a classmate. Police say they recovered at least $10,000 worth of property including a desktop computer and several TV’s.
Free turned himself in to authorities and was given a $5,000 bond. His school principal say his punishment goes beyond money.
Yvette Morales, Principal of Weslaco High School says the Texas Education Code states any student arrested for a felony, that student is to be removed from the regular education setting, and be placed in an alternative education placement, which is an alternative campus. So that is what will be done in this situation.
The second suspect, Jose Villarreal is not enrolled at Weslaco High School. Sources say the case is still under investigation. Police are still looking for additional persons of interest.
