Local News

As McAllen ISD students get ready for their high school graduations, the McAllen High School Boys Baseball Team is giving up their long awaited ceremony to play ball.

The school administration decided to put together a separate commencement ceremony for the team who will be playing for the state title this evening.

McAllen High School Baseball Coach said it’s a special treat he hopes his team will cherish as they move on with their lives.

Eliseo Pompa, Head Coach said, “The memories, the friendships. Some of the things we’ve done together, the tournaments we’ve gone to, the funny things that have happened, stuff like that. These kids don’t know this, but you always remember your high school years of any years. As you get older, you still remember your high school years.”

Game 1 of the Regional Semifinal against Winston Churchill High School San Antonio is tonight at 7:00 pm. Games 2 and 3, if necessary, will be tomorrow afternoon in Laredo.
