EDINBURG, Texas (KVEO) — Hidalgo County announced it is increasing testing for Hidalgo residents beginning Wednesday.
“Several factors are converging in Hidalgo County that will result in a greater number of people locally having the opportunity to be tested,” Judge Cortez said in the release. “This will give us a more accurate picture of how effective our mitigation efforts have been and allow us to make more informed decisions about relaxing controls in the county.”

The following is a list of testing sites as stated in the release.
- Hargill Elementary at 13394 4th St. (4th & Wilson) in Hargill (Wednesday)
- Monte Alto ISD at 25149 1st street in Monte Alto (Thursday)
- Dr. Javier Saenz Middle School at 39200 Mile 7 Road (Pueblo de Palmas) in Mission (Thursday)
Chief Ricardo Saldaña, head of Hidalgo County’s Emergency Management Division, is working to secure more testing sites in the county.
People who wish to be tested must first consult with health officials and make an appointment.
The release states individuals may go online or call (512) 883-2400.
Tests are conducted by appointment only and registration opens 24 hours prior to the test date, said the release.
