Edinburg, Texas (KVEO)—The Rio Grande Valley medical community is asking for people’s help to donate plasma.

If you have fully recovered from COVID-19, you may be able to help patients currently fighting the infection by donating your plasma.

Because you fought the infection, your plasma now contains COVID-19 antibodies.

These antibodies helped your immune system to fight the virus, meaning your plasma may be able to be used to help others fight the disease.

The hospitals participating in the request are DHR Health, Rio Grande Regional, Valley Baptist in Harlingen and Brownsville, Valley Regional and Mission Regional.

Hidalgo County officials says there is no cost to donate and you may receive financial compensation for your participation.

If you would like to donate, please call at 956-215-3166 or 504-444-2318

All eligible donors must undergo an antibody test during screening to determine the presence of antibodies in their blood.
