Cameron County confirms first death from COVID-19

HIDALGO COUNTY, Texas — Hidalgo County’s second death from COVID-19 was reported on Wednesday.

The patient was a 66-year-old man from McAllen.

The male suffered from underlying conditions in addition to COVID-19.

Officials also announced eight additional cases of COVID-19 in Hidalgo County, bringing the total to 225.

“We should all feel a sense of sadness that another member of our community has died,” said Hidalgo County Judge Richard Cortez said. “My sincere condolences go out to this man’s family.”
