Is love in the air? Are you looking to get married to your significant other on Valentine’s Day? Well, two Hidalgo County Justice of the Peace offices are offering free weddings.

The following JP’s will be officiating free weddings on Friday, Feb. 14 at their offices:

J.J. Peña Jr., Justice of the Peace Precinct 3-Place 2
730 N. Breyfogle, Suite A
Mission, Texas 78574
Please call 956-581-2124 to make an appointment.

Jason Peña, Justice of the Peace Precinct 5-Place 1
708 E. Edinburg Ave., Suite B
Elsa, Texas 78543
Please call 956-292-7015 to make an appointment.

All weddings are by appointment only and witnesses are not required.

According to a release, couples who plan to take advantage of the service will need a valid marriage license, which must be obtained at least 72 hours before the wedding. If couples can’t meet this requirement, they need to ask for a waiver from the County Clerk’s Office. While obtaining a license, both applicants need to be present, they must provide valid identification, and they must bring their social security card.

Marriage licenses can be purchased in person at the County Clerk’s office at the Vitals & Official Records department located at 317 N. Closner Blvd. in Edinburg. The Vitals & Official Records Department is located one block north of the courthouse on the corner of Closner Blvd. and Kuhn Street.
