Hidalgo County courthouse to close due to flooding

EDINBURG, Texas – Hidalgo County announced the county courthouse will be closed on Monday, July 27. Closure is due to flooding from Hurricane Hanna.

The county said this includes all Courts, the District Clerk’s Office, the County Clerk’s Office, and supporting departments. Normal operations are expected to resume Tuesday, July 28.

After discussions that included the Presiding Administrative Judge Noe Gonzalez, District Clerk Laura Hinojosa, representatives from the County Clerk’s Office, the Sheriff’s Office, Facilities Management, Adult Probation and Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez, the decision was made to close the Hidalgo County Courthouse for the safety of the public and the county employees, said the county.

Those who have business with an affected court or department should contact them when they return to normal business hours.
