EDINBURG, Texas (KVEO) — Hidalgo County Clerk has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a release, Arturo Guajardo, Jr., 51, disclosed his results on Monday. He is currently recovering at home.

Guajardo came in contact with someone who later tested positive and self-isolated until his results came in as a precaution, said the release.

He encourages everyone to continue practicing social distancing and following safety guidelines.

“Mr. Guajardo’s decisive action protected not only his staff and colleagues but others in the community,” added Chief Deputy County Clerk Annette Muniz in the release. “Rather than come into the office, he telecommuted and has called in every day during his self-isolation, in spite of his illness.”
