Hidalgo County authorities to hold emergency preparedness training

Hidalgo County’s ‘Prepared Not Scared’ initiative aims to train public for free (Source: Hidalgo County Facebook page) 

Hidalgo County officials will be having a second preparedness training for residents of rural Hidalgo County.

The Prepared Not Scared training will take place at the Precinct 4 Endowment Community Resource Center located at 107 N. Sunflower Road in Edinburg on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 12 p.m.

Participants will receive basic information on how to prepare in case of an emergency at the event.

Officials will touch on personal and family preparedness and will also be introduced to response priorities and strategies for working with family members and neighbors.

According to a release the training will be divided into five different sections:

  • Census: How will Hidalgo County benefit?
  • The Importance of 911
  • Fire Plans and Prevention
  • Crime Prevention
  • Domestic Violence

The event is open to the public.

The event is being held by the Hidalgo County Office of Emergency Management, in conjunction with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office.
