The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) released more information on the deadly stabbing that took place Saturday in rural Donna.
According to a release, the Weslaco Police Department located Reynaldo Villarreal, 54, near Westgate and 18th Street after he was involved in an accident.
Officials said Villareal had multiple stab wounds, which he indicated were caused by his cousin Manuel Martinez III, 32.
Villareal was then transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, said the release.
HCSO said in the release they responded to east Victoria Road on Walker Road in rural Donna to help Weslaco police locate the 32-year-old.
The release states sheriff’s deputies located Martinez outside his residence with cuts on his hands and blood on his boots. They also located a large amount of blood, indicating to officials the stabbing occurred at the residence.
According to the release, Martinez provided investigators with a voluntary statement confessing to stabbing Villareal during an argument.
Martinez will be arraigned Monday afternoon.
