HARLINGEN, Texas – The Harlingen Police Department said a recent post on Facebook about a robbery had occurred at the Sam’s Club in Harlingen is false.

The department said this post went into details about two males claiming to have approached a female, displayed a knife and took her groceries. The department said they have not had any such calls to Sam’s Club.

Police also said they contacted the person who posted the thread and asked for more details. The person did not reply to the police department’s request for more information, but instead deleted the fraudulent post.

The Harlingen Police Department warns anyone intentionally making false reports to law enforcement, in person or in writing, could face criminal charges.
