Harlingen police commander retires

HARLINGEN, Texas – Today, Commander Carlos X Cantu celebrated the completion of 30 years of service with the Harlingen Police Department. 

Commander Cantu began his distinguished law enforcement career with the Harlingen Police Department on May 22, 1989. He started his service in the Uniformed Patrol Division and served honorably in several units/divisions over the last three decades, including as a commander in the HPD SWAT Team. 

Cantu completed his service as a commander in the operations division. He also served in the military from May 10th, 1982 until September 30th, 2011. 

To celebrate his service, Commander Cantu was presented with a plaque from the HPD SWAT Team.
