Harlingen police arrest suspect for murder of a 15-year-old

HARLINGEN, Texas — The Harlingen Police Department has one man in custody in connection to a homicide that happened on Sunday, May 17.

According to a release, on Sunday, police discovered a body on Bob Youker Road in Harlingen.

The deceased body was identified as Alexandra Castillo, 15, of Harlingen.

Investigators determined Jesus Saldana Ramirez, 20, of Rio Hondo was the murder suspect after extensive interviewing and forensic research.

Police discovered Ramirez fled to Mexico but eventually surrendered himself at the Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville on Saturday.

Ramirez was transported to the Harlingen Police Department and charged with murder.

His bond is set at $2 million.

The case remains under investigation.
