Guilty Verdict and 80-Years in Prison for Aggravated Sexual Assault of Child

139th District Court Assistant District Attorney Ben Abila and his co-counsels obtained a guilty verdict on March 20, against Francisco Javier Zamarippa who was found guilty of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. He was given an 80-year sentence on March 21.

The 38-year-old, was charged and convicted of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl. He was the live-in boyfriend of the mother of the child when the child suffered the abuse. Criminal District Attorney Ricardo Rodriguez Jr. commended the great investigative work of the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office. The Felony Division staff collaborated with the team of law enforcement investigators, forensic nurses, child protective services and victim advocates to bring justice for the child victim.

“Our office is very proud and commends the exemplary work of Ben Abila, Gracie Reyna, Maggie Hinojosa the Assistant District Attorneys and all the support staff who worked hard to seek justice and to give a voice to the child victim in the prosecution process,” said Rodriguez.
