Grand jury finds lack of evidence in case against Donna superintendent

Local News

The Hidalgo County District Attorney confirmed Donna Superintendent Jesus Reyna was no billed Thursday, three months after school district police arrested him.

The Hidalgo County Grand Jury issued the no bill Thursday afternoon possibly due to lack of evidence in the bribery and retaliation charges brought against him.

“We are glad the citizens saw through these charges, and we expected this since the beginning, said Reyna TMs attorney, Juan Sonny Palacios Jr. We will be meeting tomorrow to discuss grievances and possible civil litigation.

Reyna was suspended from Donna ISD.

You don’t do that to a man. You don’t drag his name through the mud on trumped up charges, Palacios said. If they wanted him out the district, they need only buy out his contract.”

A no bill means the grand jury did not find enough evidence or probable cause to indict Reyna.

The felony charges against Reyna will not move forward.
