HARLINGEN, Texas — On Thursday, Harlingen High School South seniors celebrated their achievements with their families and neighbors.
The celebration was put together for students that grew up in the neighborhood around Garza Road and Rodriguez Street in Harlingen.
The neighbors created posters and brought gifts for the graduates.
“It’s a historic moment in their lives, as well as ours,” said Edna Gonzalez, a parent of one of the grads. “When they were born, we had 9/11, now we have this [pandemic] going on. They’re going to make it. they keep going, keep fighting, and they’ll reach the top.”
