Governor Abbott calls for waiver of STAAR Testing

AUSTIN, Texas – Governor Greg Abbott is requesting the suspension of federal testing requirements in response to COVID-19 concerns. The governor is calling for a waiver on the ‘State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness’ exams (STAAR) for the 2019-2020 school year.
The Texas Education Agency saying that some schools may not be able to administer the test normally and would rather schools focus on public health.
