BROWNSVILLE, Texas (KVEO) — The Gladys Porter Zoo announced that 14 crocodiles have hatched.

According to a post, they now have six females and 8 males of the critically endangered Orinoco crocodiles.

June 17 is also World Croc Day.

The zoo says it is estimated that less than 1,000 Orinoco crocodiles are left in the wild.

Every new birth is a step in the right direction for the conservation of this species. Congratulations to our amazing team of herpetologists.
