EDINBURG, Texas – Today Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux announced that it is opening Furlough Kitchen by Walk-On’s in Edinburg. In a press release the bistreaux said the non-profit operation will provide furloughed workers one free meal, no matter their former employer. Walk-On’s recently introduced this concept in Baton Rouge and is now expanding to additional communities.
Formed during the COVID-19 crisis, Furlough Kitchen by Walk-On’s will serve one free meal to furloughed workers from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, April 18. Located at 415 W. Trenton Road in Edinburg, Walk-On’s anticipates it will be able to serve more than 1,000 meals per day.
“As soon as we talked to Scott about Furlough Kitchen by Walk-On’s, we knew we had to bring it to Edinburg. Furlough Kitchen by Walk-On’s has been very successful in feeding furloughed employees, and we look forward to continuing that success. We are dedicated to doing what we can to lessen the impact that COVID-19 has caused in our community.”, said Walk-On’s Director of Operations Isaac Garza in the release.
