Free fishing tournament starts Saturday

Local News

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – A local Resaca with more than 4,000 pounds of fish has been prepared for a big fishing tournament.

The “Hooked for Life-Kids Gone Fish’n” annual tournament is back in Brownsville this Saturday.

It’s a free event taking place at the Brownsville Event Center catered to children 16 and under. Organizers say this tournament is a chance to introduce children to the ‘great sport of fishing’.

“For a lot of us it’s a lot more. It’s about creating positive family time. This is the most important institution of education; it starts with family. We’re trying to create positive memories for these kids.” Says Dr. Ruben Torres, President of Hooked for Life-Kids Gone Fish’n.

Event organizers say 2,000 rods will be available on a first come first serve basis.

Registration begins tomorrow at 6:00 A.M. at the Brownsville Event Center.
