A 43-year-old Roma man has been sentenced to seven years in a federal prison for possession of child pornography.

According to a release sent by the U.S. Attorney’s office, a federal judge sentenced Jesus Amado Garcia Tuesday and ordered him to pay $40,000 in restitution to known victims.

Garcia will also serve five years on supervised release following completion of his prison term.

During this time, Garcia will have to comply with requirements designed to restrict his access to children and the internet.

Garcia pleaded guilty on October 4, 2019.

In January, law enforcement initiated an investigation into the sharing of child pornography which led them to Garcia’s address.

At this time,  Garcia was working for the Roma Independent School District as a maintenance worker.

Garcia has been and will remain in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility, according to the release.
