Former PSJA teacher arrested for improper relationship with a student

MISSION, Texas — The Mission police department arrested a former PSJA Thomas Jefferson T-STEM Early College High School teacher and have charged him with engaging in an improper relationship between educator and student.

Eric Garza, 32, was arrested after investigators learned he inappropriately touched a victim while she was attempting to sleep on April 20.

According to police, the victim went to stay at a family friend’s house where Garza also stayed.

While the victim went to sleep, Garza went into the room she was sleeping in and began to inappropriately touch her.

The victim attempted to escape multiple times but Garza would not let her get away.

Once the victim escaped, she ran to turn on the lights in the room and discovered that the suspect was Garza, her Government and Politics teacher at PSJA TJ T-STEM ECHS.

At the time of the incident, the victim was still turning in school work online to Garza.

Police charged Garza with an improper relationship between educator and student, a second degree felony.

Garza was released after posting a $ 10,000 bond.

Case is under investigation.
